so-LAY. Sun - in French. When I started
Soleil's To-Dos back in 2001, I was inputting information on my calendar about the events I was interested in - with reminders, so I wouldn't lose track of what was coming up. I wanted a catchy title and "Stephanie's Things To Do" wasn't cutting it. Since some people close to me have referred to me as Sunshine and Sunny, I thought of "Sunny's To Dos", but that sounded too corny. Something about
Soleil's To-Dos just worked.
So, Soleil
is kinda me! I'm Stephanie Green, a resident of Chicago since 1992 - and still loving it! I have a full-time job as an attorney, but I do this as a part-time favor to myself and my
Sophisticates. I'm not a promoter, I have no marketing background - but I seek opportunities that promote personal growth, spirituality, creativity and action and I support individuals and organizations that provide such opportunities. And, okay, I also like to get my groove on at the occasional party!
Well, a number of years have passed and I've finally moved from my initial e-mailed Microsoft Word and Adobe documents and have begun to realize the vision I have long held for
Soleil's To-Dos! Soleil's To-Dos is full of a variety of events (which I lovingly refer to as "To-Dos") that appeal to the African-American, urban "professional" (check out
Sophisticates for my take on that term). The To-Dos are not "all Black" events, but I definitely have a cultural bias in favor of those events that reflect diverse cultures and that celebrate Black culture and heritage.
But in order to make this really work, I need your feedback, both in terms of the To-Dos and the functioning of the website - so I hope to hear from you and I hope you enjoy
Soleil's To-Dos!
Stephanie!
