THE MISSION: Ravinia Park's outdoor concert venue is a spot that must be visited at least once each season. The parkgrounds are absolutely beautiful and nothing beats a lazy summer afternoon, turned to balmy evening under the stars, sprawled out on a blanket. So, we're going to head out there together, simply to socialize!

THE CONCERT: Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club® featuring Omara Portuondo.

THE BASICS:
(1) You buy your own concert tickets (lawn or reserved seats) directly through Ravinia.
(2) You join us on the Party Train and/or on the Ravinia lawn and enjoy our party complete with food, drink and good company - for a nominal charge of $15-25!

TRANSPORTATION: Metra: Up to 135 people will be able to join the party train – our own car on the 3:35pm Metra train from Ogilvie Station (Madison & Canal) to Ravinia Park (normally $8.60 roundtrip). As I am making arrangements for food and libations on the train, I will need a head count two weeks prior to the outing. To confirm your seats, you will be asked to make a nominal PayPal payment of $15 by Tuesday, June 10, 2010. This payment will be refundable with written notice received no later than Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Spaces will be confirmed strictly on a first-paid, first-confirmed basis. No exceptions (too many of you are my "real" friends). (Note that discounted parking at the train station will be available.)

On your own: Feel free to meet us at Ravinia – but the later after 5pm that you arrive, the less chance that you will sit with our group.

PARKING:  Discounted parking is available with Systems Parking for those boarding the Party Train at the Ogilvie Station.  The garage is just north of Randolph and may be entered via Clinton or Canal.  Mention "Simply Social" for $10 discounted parking.

AT THE PARK: Menu details to be announced; vegetarian and non-alcohol options will be available. In order to obtain a somewhat accurate headcount, your payment will be NONREFUNDABLE after 5pm on Tuesday, June 22, 2010.

PAYMENTS: $15 per person, payable via PayPal or cash at 10 North Dearborn, Suite 600, Chicago, Illinois 60602 (see Karen Roper) will defray costs associated with this outing. If you are riding the Party Train, your payment also covers your train ride to and from Ravinia. Payment due dates: Thursday, June 10th for early bird discount. After 5pm on Thursday, June 10, $20 still-got-the-worm discount through Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Thereafter, $25 – whether in advance or walk-up at the park.

ATTIRE: Red is preferred (for a beautiful photo op!).

CHILDREN: Children are welcome on the Party Train and welcome to join us on the Ravinia lawn as long as you can (1) control them; (2) keep their little fingers out of other people's food; and/or (3) lock them down in baby seat. Note that specially-priced $5 Ravinia lawn tickets are available for children ages 10 or younger and children ages 6 or younger ride Metra free.
